Allison V730

This 3-speed automatic transmission found a wide application in some transit bus models. Later, the new modification V731, which is pretty much the same as its predecessor, but upgraded with the electric control model. Another peculiarity of the V731 model is the push-button gear shifting mechanism used instead of the standard gear stick. This transmission family is also complemented with the VR731 model notable for the integrated retarder and a version allowing transit agencies and others to apply right-turning Detroit Diesel family motors (variously the V731R or V731RH) instead of the standard left-turning units. Most installations of the V730/V731 have them coupled to the DDA 6V92TA 2-stroke diesel engine.
