Numerous drawbacks of the transmission AXOD forced engineers to take some action. In 1994, the model AX4N was introduced. And then, the AX4S. In 1998, the AX4S was modified one more time. Engineers changed some spare parts, valve body and adjusted friction clutches to new ATF: Mercon-5. Before 1998, these automatic transmissions were filled with Mercon-4.In 2004, this 6-speed automatic transmission was replaced by Aisin TF-81SC.
