The design of the automatic transmission А240 was upgraded in 1993 when it was replaced by new transmission models A245 - A246 - 247 with modern valve body and solenoids. In addition to the valve body, А245-247 were equipped with new filter and new friction clutches with steel discs. The modern generation of this reliable transmission family A245E/ A246E /247Е has been produced since 2003. The model А247Е was slightly upgraded in hard components to endure high torque from 2-liter engines. In 2003, the valve body was upgraded one more time with a new EPC solenoid as well as the filter and pan. Moreover, the TCM was significantly upgraded.
