In 2000, the AX4N was upgraded ( mainly in electrics and valve body) and was renamed as 4F50N, in accordance with Ford classification introduced in the 1990s. This name means the following: 4F - 4-speed transmission for FWD (Front), 50 - a certain value that determines the maximum transmitted torque (approximately 370-400 Nm). The valve body was upgraded one more time in 2003.
