Allison Transmission Introduces New Regional-Haul Transmission

Allison Transmission, a major producer of quality automatic transmissions for commercial vehicles (CVs), announced, in collaboration with Freightliner Trucks, the introduction of the new Allison 3414 Regional Haul Series™ (RHS) transmission during the NACV exhibition. The new product is an upgraded version of Allison’s 3000 Series intended for mixed-duty fleets. Freightliner Trucks, an American truck maker (Daimler’s division), will be the 1-st customer to use the new Allison solution in its vehicles and enjoy its benefits.

The Allison 3000 HS has gained recognition as an efficient solution for city delivery tractors. To satisfy growing requirements of clients, the new gear shifting unit has increased torque capacity and ensures better efficiency, and, at the same time, maintaining best characteristics specific to Allison products. When talking about the numbers, the new transmission is capable of handling with up to 410 hp and 1965 Nm. This solid number helps customers’ fleets to meet the challenge of using their trucks in mixed duty cycles.

Allison 3414 Regional Haul Series™ (RHS) transmission

The 3414 RHS unit ensures up to 25% faster speed-up capacity (0-20 mph), when compared to AMTs. Thanks to the use of Allison’s xFE technology and FuelSense 2.0 with DynActive feature, the new gearbox will guarantee up to 8% fuel efficiency enhancement. According to the Daimler representative in the US, both parties have a successful history of collaboration in providing mutual customers with efficient powertrain units. Therefore, the new stage of cooperation with Allison resulted in the new gearbox, which will hit the market in 2020.

The 3414 RHS can be installed in any vehicle that currently comes with the Allison 3000. Actually, this unit is significantly lighter than the next lightest competitive gearbox in the segment. Thanks to maintenance-friendliness of the unit, customers will be able to save money on servicing and reduce not-in-service hours of their vehicles.

Allison hopes that the new transmission will have a promising future, as it can fully satisfy the requirements of even the most demanding customers: increased operating capacity, better maneuverability, solid warranty coverage, enhanced adaptability and fuel saving, as well as other typical strengths of all Allison products.
