AW Texas, an affiliate of Aisin AW Co. Ltd.,
broke ground on its 3-rd transmission production facility in the US. The
159-acre plant, placed in Cibolo, TX, will be specialized in manufacturing of
automatic transmission units. This promising project should create about 900
new jobs to the area during the next 5 years.
ATC Drivetrain ("ATC"), a major
producer of auto drivetrain elements, has recently announced the start of a
joint venture (JV) with Luwote (Zhangjiagang) Power Remanufacturing Technology
Co., Ltd. ("Luwote"). The new enterprise will be located in China.
American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM), a
major producer of vehicle driveline solutions, has recently announced the
launch of a new production facility in Spain.
The main task of the new enterprise is to
satisfy a growing demand for quality parts from major European automakers.
A product portfolio of this facility includes a
full range of vibration control and damper solutions.
ZF Friedrichshafen has recently opened a
production facility in Pančevo, Serbia to manufacture powertrain elements for
hybrid and electric vehicles (EV). Currently, approximately 300 specialists
work at the plant, but ZF is determined to expand the infrastructure and create

Aisin
World Corp. of America (AWA), an affiliate of Aisin Seiki, has set up a joint
venture (JV) named Aisin Sales Latin America S.A. (ASLA) with Leon Import, a
major wholesale distributor of spare parts for Japanese and Korean cars.
A few years ago, ZF established 2 joint businesses with Foton, a Chinese commercial vehicle (CV) producer, to manufacture and sell transmission solutions for CVs.
Recently, Aisin Seiki, one of the largest
suppliers of automatic transmissions and related parts, has announced that it
set up a joint venture with a local company Anhui Ring New Group Co.
At the end of last year, a well-known Chinese carmaker GAC Group, the branch of GAC Motor, has completed the construction of a new plant for manufacturing of environment-friendly electric and autonomous vehicles. At the same time, GAC Motor and Aisin AW have announced the launch of a joint venture intended for production of automatic transmissions.
Not so long ago, it has transpired that Eaton
and Shaanxi Fast Gear (SFGW) have entered into a joint venture agreement to
produce manual gearboxes for light commercial trucks. The structure of the
joint venture is formed in accordance with official endorsements and conditions
of the deal closure.
In May this year, Punch Powertrain and XPT, an
international start-up, located in China, specialized in E-propulsion units,
have entered into an agreement that will give birth to a new production
enterprise in Nanjing. It is planned that the new plant will manufacture Electric
Powertrains and the annual output will be at a rate of hundreds of thousands of
units.
ZF plans to
establish a joint venture with Chinese company Anhui Heli Co., Ltd. The
enterprice, named ZF-HELI Drivetech (Hefei) Co., Ltd., will help ZF to promote
its products related to fork-lift trucks in China, the most promising market
for the auto industry. Moreover, the German company will also diversify its
product line with solutions offered by the Chinese partner.
