ZF Considers Takeover of WABCO

According to ZF officials, the company constantly looks for ways to expand its presence on the auto market. These strategic steps frequently lead to ZF negotiating with other businesses. ZF, known for production of transmissions and hybrid systems, has been looking for a reliable partner after a survey showed them that self-driving technologies will become a promising direction in the future auto industry. Both companies have a record of successful cooperation – they already collaborated on creation of an Evasive Maneuver Assist solution, which includes technologies of both companies.

Last year, ZF denied any plans about takeovers of any companies, including Wabco, since the segment of brake solutions was not on the top of the agenda for ZF. The company has been discouraged from following vigorous acquisition strategy by its main shareholder, which has been quite apprehensive about running into debt.
