ZF Presents Innovative Hybrid Technology at IAA 2019

ZF Group has recently presented its new EVplus technology at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This hybrid powertrain solution ensures enhanced operation range for vehicles with hybrid drives.

According to press representatives of the German company, the ZF EVplus concept presented in Frankfurt is a PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) technology. It is designed on the basis of a passenger car equipped with a new 8-speed hybrid ZF transmission. This transmission is equipped with an electric motor with a constant power of 65 kW (peak motor power is 95 kW). The motor runs on the battery with the capacity of 35 kW * h.

Under the condition of day-to-day running, a car equipped with the EVplus system, as stated by ZF, is capable of driving more than 100 km on a fully electric traction with a single battery charge. ZF representatives point out the fact that such operation range can be achieved in all seasons even with the use of different auxiliary systems (such as air conditioner, heater, or multimedia player).

That’s how a EVplus vehicle operates

Vehicles equipped with the EVplus system can be successfully used not only in the cities where cars with internal combustion engines are subjected (or will be in the near future) to severe restrictions, but also for long-distance travelling. In the latter case, a hybrid transmission and a high-capacity battery will ensure a significantly longer operation range. It is still unknown whether ZF has already received orders for the EVplus system from any automakers and when the 1-st production car equipped with this technology will be presented.
