Schaeffler Contributes to Optimization of Transmission Development Process

Schaeffler, in cooperation with SEW-EURODRIVE and the FVA, has recently presented a standardized interface for transmission info, allowing to eliminate repeated transmission modeling and to optimize the process of the transmission development.

A full virtual view of any transmission system is likely to happen when specialists responsible for development of different components manage to bring together their solutions. Therefore, the process of the data transfer between companies and systems is one of the most crucial preconditions for creation of digital twins. On the market, there are numerous tools for creation of transmission prototypes and their simulation, but none of them can be considered as a universal solution. The challenge is that production companies and their suppliers still have to exchange gearbox information manually, which causes spending time on repetitive operations.

The new solution named as REXS offers a modeling unit for any needed gearbox with spur gear, cone gear, and planetary gear stages and their elements. To date, REXS is implemented in the FVA Workbench (v. 5.0 and higher), in all active versions of Schaeffler’s Bearinx, and SEW-EURODRIVE’s WESILAB program. Even vendors of computer-generated simulation tools have now included the REXS interface or mean to start its introduction as part of their future products.

Example REXS Models

Thanks to the REXS interface the process of transmission data exchange become automatic. Customers can get results of model calculation from Bearinx much faster, thereby accelerating the development processes. REXS allows cutting costs for linking simulations of different transmission components. This solution can be used in the field of transmission development as a standardized data container for the creation of digital twins.

With REXS, transmission info can be transferred promptly and efficiently, which means the interface makes a significant contribution to the optimization of the development process. The REXS interface is free software, and is available at www.rexs.info.
