The V6 engines and 10-speed gearboxes, installed in several GM models, are actually manufactured at the Romulus plant. According to GM, this significant sum of money will be spent on sophisticated machinery required to meet new gearbox manufacturing requirements. Romulus production facility gained recognition as a reliable provider of top-quality car parts for GM cars. Thanks to professionalism and workmanship of the plant specialists, GM considers the plant to be an important component of the company’s growth potential.

Representatives of the plant also outlined the importance of this investment not only for the plant itself, but also for the whole Wayne County (where the plant is located). This step from GM makes it clear for the plant workers that they will remain an important part of the GM’s development strategy for a long time.

Since 2009, GM has put up more than $880 million for the Romulus plant development. Nowadays, the number of highly qualified workers at the plant reached 1,350 people. The plant launched production in 1976 as part of GM Detroit Diesel Allison Division, manufacturing diesel engines and related parts.
