Cadillac V-Series to Include Manual Transmission Options

Manual transmissions seem to become a rare thing in powertrain designs of new cars, but it seems like Cadillac plans to keep stick shifters alive. The continuing story around powertrain details of Cadillac’s upcoming CT4-V and CT5-V models has already created a lot of speculations, and the latest rumors say that both cars will receive well-known GM performance-oriented engines and most interestingly, manual transmissions. Automotive media sources tried to clarify the situation directly with Cadillac, but the company refused to elaborate on the upcoming products.

2020 Cadillac CT5 V

The CT5-V model is expected to be equipped with the 6.2-liter LT4 V-8 that has already found application in some of new Chevrolet models. This engine has the power capacity of 650 hp along with an equal torque rate. It should be noted that the previous models equipped in the "Blackwing" V-8 made just 550 hp in the CT6-V with 850 Nm. Coupled with a manual gearbox, this would be the 1-st time a sporty Cadillac has got such a drivetrain design since 2015 when the CTS-V was taken out of production.
