Common problems & symptoms
Problems and symptoms reported for this transmission, compiled from repair sources. Not a complete list.
!
Stator/output shaft bushing wear
Excessive clearance in the stator or input/output shaft bushings lets the E clutch slip, setting codes in 4th-6th gear and causing gear ratio errors.
!
TCC/line solenoid wear
Mechanical wear or contamination of the TCC and other regulating solenoids is a common, mostly mechanical (not electrical) failure mode causing shift and TCC-related complaints.
!
Accumulator damper failure
Worn accumulator dampers let solenoid output become erratic and harsh as the rubber plug flattens over time, producing harsh or flared shifts.
