The transmission fluid filter assembly can crack or its seam can split, often caused by a damaged fluid pump sending a high-pressure fluid spike down the filter neck on a cold start; this results in no forward, no reverse, or slipping and requires pump inspection.

Customers report the transmission has no forward or reverse movement, or that it is slipping; this is commonly traced back to a cracked/split fluid filter and associated pump damage.

Harsh shift, shudder, surge or stall
Some 6L80/6L90 equipped vehicles exhibit harsh shifting, shudder, surging, stalling, neutral/flare and transmission overheating, in some cases linked to a twisted transmission cooler line restricting fluid flow.
