Common problems & symptoms
Problems and symptoms reported for this transmission, compiled from repair sources. Not a complete list.
!
Forward clutch lube tube crack
A brazed metal/aluminum lube supply tube feeding the forward clutch cracks at its base, cutting off lubrication/feed to the forward circuit while the reverse circuit (separate line) stays intact, producing reverse-but-no-forward.
!
Input sprag clutch misassembly/failure
If the input sprag clutch is installed with the wrong rotation during rebuild, or the sprag/clutch itself fails, a no-forward condition results even though reverse still works.
!
TCC release o-ring/control valve leak
Incorrect TCC release pressure readings (DTC P0843) are most often traced to a leaking torque converter clutch o-ring (#41), damaged TCC control valve, or blocked spacer plate exhaust, causing the TCC release pressure to stay present when the converter clutch is applied.
