Common problems & symptoms
Problems and symptoms reported for this transmission, compiled from repair sources. Not a complete list.
!
Forward/Coast clutch drum mismatch
The RE4F04B uses a taller-lug Forward/Coast clutch housing to work with its added Turbine Sensor; installing the shorter RE4F04A-style drum during a rebuild prevents the sensor from reading drum speed, causing no turbine signal or a continuous P0717 code.
?
Harsh 1-2 upshift / P0745
A corroded or poorly soldered ground terminal on the line pressure solenoid assembly can cause a harsh 1st-to-2nd shift and set DTC P0745.
