The Underdrive (UD) brake clutch pack and steel discs burn out, often linked to a factory issue of under-tightened UD hub bolts that let the piston rattle and apply the clutches with a shock.

3-5/Reverse clutch pack failure
The neighboring 3-5/Reverse clutch pack is the second weak point in A6MF1/2 units, burning out after UD pack damage or on its own.

Valve-body pressure-control bore wear
Wear in the 3/5/Reverse and Underdrive pressure-control valve bores allows hydraulic leakage, producing delayed engagement, flare/slip, bind-up or loss of Reverse.
