Common problems & symptoms
Problems and symptoms reported for this transmission, compiled from repair sources. Not a complete list.
!
SLT solenoid (P2714) fault
DTC P2714 for the SLT pressure control solenoid, combined with other transmission performance codes and abnormal shifting, was addressed by Toyota with a bulletin requiring transmission replacement and an ECM reflash if fluid level and condition are not the cause.
?
Torque converter lock-up shudder
A fine vibration or series of light bumps felt around 35-50 mph under light throttle as the torque converter clutch attempts to lock up, caused by worn lock-up clutch friction material and degraded ATF friction modifiers.
!
SR solenoid feed circuit leak
An unsealed bore plug behind the SR solenoid allows line pressure meant to feed the S1-S4 on/off solenoids to leak into the sump, triggering solenoid performance trouble codes even when the solenoids themselves are good.
