Common problems & symptoms
Problems and symptoms reported for this transmission, compiled from repair sources. Not a complete list.
!
Pump line control valve sticking
The line control valve inside the oil pump can stick open or create hydraulic resonance, causing delayed engagement and reduced line pressure, often worse after coasting.
!
Solenoid pack degradation from early ATF
Early factory-fill Mercon V fluid used before May 2005 degraded the variable force solenoids, leading to loss of reverse, delayed forward, or flare on 1-2/2-3 shifts.
!
TCC piston deflection / converter failure
Excess pressure reaching the TCC apply circuit from valve body wear can cause torque converter clutch piston deflection, excessive slip, or converter failure.
