Common problems & symptoms
Problems and symptoms reported for this transmission, compiled from repair sources. Not a complete list.
!
B2 (Low/Reverse) brake burnout
A worn B2 switch valve or apply control plunger leads to a burned B2 brake, producing delayed reverse engagement and loss of engine braking in manual low.
!
B1 (2nd) brake burnout
Wear of the B1 apply control plunger causes the B1 (2nd) brake to burn, resulting in 2-3 or 4-3 bind-up and harsh 1 through 4 shifts.
!
Solenoid modulator valve wear
A worn solenoid modulator valve produces harsh or flaring upshifts, torque converter clutch slip/RPM cycling, and reduced cooler flow that can lead to overheating.
