Inhibitor switch

The engaged gear is displayed on the dashboard with the help of P,R,N or D lamp, when drivers shif gears in automatic transmissions. The inhibitor switch reads out this information and the TCU selects the operation mode of the transmission in accordance with the engaged gear. In addition, the inhibitor switch blocks the engine actuation if the engaged transmission is not P or N. This component often breaks down because of contacts with liquid.
